Annie says “I stand for all author and it’s my job to optimize their exposure. I treat their time, money and dreams with respect. To me, our authors are making an investment in themselves and I view the campaign as an investment that earns a return for them in moving their goals, dreams and book marketing and/or business model forward. I do not view their publicity campaign fees as an expense they have to endure for less than desirable results. That is, money just thrown away without getting the publicity or media outreach outcomes that would have benefited the author’s success model”.
In this publicity podcast, we share another real story of publicity success to give listeners an inside look into what it’s like to work with Annie Jennings PR.
Joining us is New York Times & Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Weldon Long MBA. Weldon worked with us on his latest book, Consistency Selling, doing both the top market national radio campaign and the performance publicity campaign.
While working with Annie Jennings PR, Weldon’s campaign included powerful media bookings that include the Harvard Business Report, Entrepreneur, Ariana Huffington’s Thrive Global, MSNBC TV, The Globe & Mail, Dow Jones Moneyish and more. During his radio talk show campaign with Annie, Weldon was heard on over 1,000 stations via major National Shows and top market interviews.

Real PR Story: “I Would Say 100% Do It. Hire Annie Jennings. It’s A Guaranteed Deal!”
Weldon, how has working with Annie Jennings PR for your publicity helped your business?
Weldon says that so much of a speaker or consultant’s credibility these days, with social media and the internet, comes down to what people think when about us when they check us out. I always encourage people in my business to get as much media as they can because it gives us so much credibility.
The media hits just listed in the intro to this podcast are on my website. If you visit my site you will see those video clips and you will see the links to all those articles because they give so much credibility.
For me as a business writer and business speaker being published in Entrepreneur magazine twice and Harvard business review, well that’s some serious chops in terms of being a business speaker.
I really encourage people to get as much major media as they can and leverage it. It’s all about the credibility that comes with that type of major, high-impact media exposure.
Annie Jennings PR got me booked on a TV show called MSNBC’s Your Business. And after I did the interview, just that next week, we got a call from a major firm about doing some sales training and speaking for their sales team across the country. That’s just the obvious implication of how media attracts opportunities but how many other indirect business opportunities came from all the exposure is hard to tell but there is a definite relationship between that type of exposure and business opportunities.
Annie says this about her performance model PR campaigns: “Yes, we are willing to work hard to land you the media that is important to you, like we did for Weldon above, and only take our fee when your media bookings are signed, sealed and delivered to you. Many of our clients tell me that they could not wish for a better deal. Someone who would work tirelessly on their behalf and only be paid for their successes in providing meaningful and valuable outcomes for them.”
They also tell Annie this – “I would pay you all day long” for media bookings that move my business success forward.
What was it about Annie Jennings PR’s publicity programs that caught your interest?
It’s hard to separate what’s fact from fiction out there when searching for your publicity firm. While searching, I discovered Annie Jennings PR. The thing that really hooked me on Annie Jennings PR was her performance model.
I had worked with other retainer PR firms and paid in excess of $20,000 -$30,000 a month. There is really no guarantee of what you are going to get. They say that they are going work on your behalf and of course and they do but there are not obligated to deliver anything.
Annie Jennings PR says that they will bill you for the media as they book it. To me that was the credibility. I do the same thing in my business with my clients – I say that I will deliver these results and you pay me this much money.
That really resonated with me and goes to the integrity with the way Annie Jennings PR conducts her business and the expertise and skill that this firm brings to the table.
Annie puts her money where her mouth is and they put their work where the money is.
Annie does not ask for the handout. They don’t say we will do our best. They say that they are going to bring you secured media placements that help drive your business model forward.
It’s that kind of reliability that I need to invest in marketing my interests.
Weldon, what was it like working with your publicity performance specialist, Sara?
It was really good. What I especially enjoyed was that when I would have my own twist about how we could position me, Sara was always really receptive to my ideas and we would craft an idea or position for the story together. It was a total collaborative effect. I was allowed to have my input and help craft the message that would position me in certain ways depending on the story. That was always a pleasant experience. I did not feel that anyone was trying to shoehorn me into different interviews. Annie Jennings PR publicity team made sure the media opportunity was relevant to my business success strategy.
Weldon, what would you say to someone thinking of working with Annie Jennings PR for publicity?
I would say 100% do it. Hire Annie Jennings. It’s a guaranteed deal. And there are not many guarantees in life especially in the PR business. Other firms will want the monthly retainer and they say they will do their best. I am sure they will but with Annie Jennings PR it’s a guaranteed deal.
The Harvard Business Review media placement took a couple of months. Sara started working it for me, I wrote the article and with the editing process it took time. However, Annie did not bill me for the media placement until after the article was published. That to me is what it is all about. That’s good business. It is business you can count on. It is exposure you can count on.
I would tell anybody to NOT spend money on something that is as uncertain and nebulous as public relations. You need to have deliverable verifying returns for the dollars you are going to spend.
“That’s what you are going to get with Annie Jennings!” says Weldon Long, An Annie Jennings PR Client!
