In this publicity podcast, we are joined by Fred Cuellar – known as “The Diamond Guy” – designing championship rings for the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Detroit Red Wings and more. But he spent the past 17 years researching the physiology of lasting weight loss after his “work till you drop” and “eat whatever, whenever you can” lifestyle caught up to him, and he suffered a stroke. And he wrote a book on what he learned to help himself live a new and healthy lifestyle.
Publicity on his new book tells his story and how he saved his life
Now he shares his story, what worked for him and how he’s helping others in the new book, The Buffer Zone Diet: It’s Not Just What You Eat, It’s When You Eat.
Fred has appeared on over 200 stations during his radio campaign with Annie Jennings. He has been heard on major media brands such as iHeart Media, CBS Radio and Radio America, not to mention getting booked with celebrity hosts as well. Here is what Fred had to say about working with Annie Jennings PR firm.

Real Publicity Story- It’s Best To Invest In Yourself With Annie Jennings PR
Fred, why did you choose Annie Jennings PR for your radio publicity?
First and foremost, I trusted Annie. From the very second that I talked with everyone on the Annie Jennings team that I would be working with, I knew I would be working with  a group of people who love what they are doing and want to make a difference in your life. Everyone on the Annie Jennings PR team is wonderful and it’s been spectacular.
I think the mistake in strategy for anybody out there is that initially they think are going to get all the publicity they want by doing it themselves. But at the end of the day book promotion and book marketing does not work this way. I found I needed a team of established professionals. Annie Jennings is an expert in delivering positive outcomes and results to her clients.
Tell us about your publicity team
I found that I needed to build a team. There is a sense that many authors have that if they write a book the readers will come. It’s ok if you have a needle but if there is so much hay out there that no one can appreciate your needle, nothing happens.
I created the teams I needed to be successful with Annie and with a social media team so they could repurpose all of the radio interviews on all my platforms.  The real work starts after the book is published.
The more roads you use to get to the top of the mountain the better it is for you.
How helpful was media coaching in teaching you publicity skills?
It was really refreshing to learn about staying on point, staying on message, about how to get ready for an interview and lots more. It was fantastic. To have experts in the field showing you how to make your message and delivery better. They helped me make my message great.
What would you say to someone signing with Annie for publicity
It’s best to manage your money and invest in yourself. You want a relationship with Annie Jennings PR. I wanted results. I am getting something in return via working with Annie that has meaning and value to me.
