Did You Know That Over 1 Million Books Were Published Last Year
Industry reports that in 2009 over one million books were published, up from about 300,000 books published in 2006.
As if that were not enough good news for authors and their book marketing efforts . . .
There’s more. The print on demand sector for books published in 2009 was about 765,000 books published, up from just 22,000 books in 2006.
Now, that’s a lot of competition for sales. That’s a lot of competition in book marketing for sales.

A lot of authors think that to be successful in their book marketing and book publicity they have to appear as the guest on the major national TV shows such as one of the morning shows (TODAY Show, Good Morning America or the Early Show). Many authors ask to get booked on these shows including OPRAH, Larry King, The View are more but getting booked as the guest on those shows is not an easy task. So why not take book marketing in your own hands?
Find out how to market your books for sales, create book buzz and get book publicity.
BOOK MARKETING FOR BOOK SALES Spoke #2:
BOOK MARKETING TIP: Build Community (People who you would like to buy your book at some point in the future): Build relationships with your community in advance, not just when your book is ready. Become a part of the community of people you wish to reach with your book. Join groups, go to events, make friends and get their contact info.
BOOK MARKETING TIP: While you are writing your book (and if your book is already published you can start right now), go meet the owners of the book store and get to know the independent book store owners. Build business friendships by emailing a nice thank you and suggest you get together for coffee.
When your book comes out or after a while, you are able to ask for an opportunity for a book signing or workshop presentation with their store. Friends are happy to help friends and there is a concept important in any good business model and that is being a business friend to others. You always want to create a big win for everyone. Feel shy about making friends? Think of it this way, without authors like you, there would be no book stores!
BOOK MARKETING FOR BOOK SALES USES FRIENDSHIP MARKETING:
Annie Jennings PR calls this friendship marketing. After all, the fun of marketing your book is creating new friendships, touching lives, and creating new opportunities. Also, these new friends might have some great leads for you that can help you land lots of opportunities.
BOOK MARKETING TIP: Being a book author is supposed to be fun and not a financial or marketing nightmare. Forget about book sales or you will put too much pressure on yourself. You will feel stressed and you will not be having fun. Focus on sharing your message. Your book will sell itself with you as its passionate spokesperson.
Remember, the people who are working in the book selling culture in your community can help you tremendously with leads, knowledge and opportunity.
BOOK MARKETING TIP: Friendship marketing is not about the premise of how much can you get from another person as that simply objectifies the other person as nothing more than a stepping stone, Friendship Marketing is more of how can we get to know each other better to see if there is a friendship and a mutually beneficial relationship between us. Business people love to make business connections, this is how the world goes round. Enjoy it!
NO ONE likes it when you see them as a means to an end, or a non-person. The key to successful friendship marketing is to enjoy the fun and excitement of living your book in motion. Sales will happen if you get out into the world and get up close and personal with your target market.
Thanks, Annie
